Theme Night: Christmas Gifts

Purpose: To teach students that their response to God’s gift for them should be to share their gifts with others

Challenge: Find another way this week you can give back to God as thanks for His gift to us. Tell us next week what you did and how it changed your perspective on Christmas.

Trivia: Christmas

Message: Our gift to others (a message on praise and our response to Christmas), or http://www.thesource4ym.com/movieclipdiscussions/discussion.aspx?id=239 for a message on celebrating Christmas in a way that shows that Christmas is truly about the birth of Christ.

  • Human Gift Wrap: Give each team a roll of wrapping paper, scissors, tape, and optional bows. They must wrap a team member up as a gift. Best wrapped team receives 10 points.
  • Photos with Santa: Have a leader dress as Santa and take pictures with the students
  • Wish List: Give each student a note card with a celebrity (or leader) name written at the top. Students have to come up with ten things they believe that celebrity would want for Christmas.
  • Unsung Sponsors: Compile a list of the quiet supporters of the youth group (or ones you think could use extra support). Bring in card-making supplies, a small box or basket for each one, and a selection of Christmas candies, cookies, knick-knacks, and more to put in these containers. Separate the students into groups based on the number of boxes/baskets there are. Each group should choose from the selection to create a personalized kit for the person they are assigned, and each group should also make a card thanking them for what they do for the youth group.
